Dear Parents,
It's Spring Break! Our school year is officially 3/4 of the way complete. Wow it has gone by fast. I hope you are having a great week with your children and that they come back to school ready for 4th quarter, which you know will be busy.
Dream Vacation Raffle Drawing
Thank you for selling your family's raffle tickets and for turning in the ticket stubs and money to Mrs. Carla. We had our live drawing on Friday at 4:00 PM.
The winners are:
8th Grade Pizza Sale
On the Monday after Spring Break, the 8th graders will sell pizza. I met with a supervisor at Little Caesar's and talked with her about our issues on our last two pizza days. She assured me she will be there on the 18th to make sure all pizzas are ready to be picked up at 10:30 AM. Since we have gift cards for the pizza and there is no cost to the 8th graders, pizza will still be $2.00 per slice and students who purchase pizza will still get a drink and a cookie. Thank you for supporting our 8th graders as they use the proceeds from the pizza sales for their Legacy Project.
Building the Cross at Morning Prayer
At morning prayer, Mr. Burnham is helping our students in building a huge cross with good deeds. Preschool, Pre-K, and Kindergarten have already added their pieces of wood to form the foundation for our cross. Join us at morning prayer on the following days as each of the remaining classes tells us about their good deeds and adds their piece of wood to the cross.
Stations of the Cross
Our school will attend Stations of the Cross at 2:30 PM on Friday, March 22, 2024.
Knights of Columbus Fish Fry
The Knights of Columbus have their fish fry on Fridays, and there are only two more dinners left this Lent. The Knights are generous supporters of our school and have pledged half of their proceeds from their fish fries this year to go to our school. If you are available this Friday, March 15 and next Friday, March 22, please come eat between the hours of 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM. If there are any students available, please come help serve and help with clearing the tables. I have enjoyed both Fridays that I have been able to attend, and the food is really good!
Wednesday, March 27
To celebrate Easter and the end of Lent, we will attend mass on Wednesday, March 27, with music performed by our 3rd grade choir. We are still working on the schedule, but it will be very altered. We will have lunch with guests hosted by 1st grade. Farmington Schools changed our menu so that we can have a nice Easter meal that day. We will have baked ham, macaroni and cheese, garden salad, a dinner roll, and fruit. The cost is $5.00 a person which includes a drink. Please reserve your meal by 3:30 PM on Monday, March 25. After lunch, we will have our egg drop.
Students can wear their regular Wednesday uniform.
Night to Remember
Night to Remember is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and we need all of our families involved to make it a success as it has been in the past. If you or someone you know has a product or service they would like to donate, will you please let me know? Thank you for supporting this amazing event that not only raises a significant amount of money for our school, but also showcases our wonderful school to the community. Our next meeting is Wednesday, March 27 at 6:00 PM in the school. Everyone is welcome.
Easter Break
Our school is closed for Easter Break from March 28 through April 1 for Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Monday.
Spirit Store Price Reductions
As we prepare for warmer weather, our
SHCS Spirit Store is having an end-of-season sale on all winter items. Find amazing deals on socks, beanies, hoodies, and more, with discounts of up to 20% off. We're making room for our Spring/Summer inventory.
April Birthdays
April birthdays will be celebrated at morning prayer on Wednesday, April 3.
April Confessions
Confessions will be heard by Father Tim and Father Jeff on Thursday, April 4.
ARK Testing
Our school will participate in ARK testing during the week of April 8 through 12. ARK stands for Assessment of Religious Knowledge and keeps track of our religious knowledge and growth. Students will test during their computer time with Mrs. Schwenk.
Works of Mercy Spring Project
Our second big project for our Works of Mercy Family Club is to complete small projects around our school on the weekend of April 20 and 21. Some of the projects already requested are to fix the blinds in some of our classrooms, complete the greenhouse, install a sprinkler system for landscaping, add landscaping, clean out our storage buildings, and clean our playground equipment. Everyone is welcome. We will serve hot dogs for lunch. If you are interested in leading any of these projects, or if you know of any other projects that could benefit our school, please let me know. Our Works of Mercy Family Club is one of the ways our students, staff, and parents have an opportunity to participate in service projects. If you still need service hours, this is a great way to get several. We will have online sign-up beginning the week of March 18.
Confirmation and First Communion
We will have several SHCS students making their First Communion and Confirmation this year. Confirmation and First Communion practice is at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, April 24 in the church, and Confirmation/First Communion are at the 4:30 PM Mass on Saturday, April 27.
Again, I hope you are having a wonderful Spring Break.
❤️, Kelly
