Dear Parents,
Happy Easter! I hope you are enjoying the break and that everyone comes back rested, ready for the last eight weeks of school. Easter Monday is our last holiday for the school year.
Our Cross is finished
and it is beautiful! Join us for morning prayer to see the cross our classes built under the leadership of Mr. Burnham, who bravely climbed a really tall ladder each morning to hang the pieces from each class.
Easter Lunch and Egg Drop
Our Easter lunch was fabulous. Thank you, Mrs. Atencio and First Grade, for the beautiful decorations, the precious song, and the exuberant welcomes for everyone who entered the gym for lunch. Thanks to Mrs. Isbell for the crosses for each family, and thanks to Miss Elmer and 4th grade for singing "Mary Did You Know?" Thanks, also, to Mrs. Rita, Jerilyn, Selecia, and Ms. Bean for serving everyone who had hot lunch. Finally, thanks to our guests for attending this special lunch. We love getting to show off our wonderful students, amazing teachers and staff, and our beautiful school.
We had an eggcellent turnout for our Egg Drop! Many student inventions were able to make it through all three rounds of drops without their egg cracking. Thanks to the Keatings for organizing this event, and for Mr. Idzerda for getting the lift and dropping the eggs. Thanks to God for beautiful weather and low wind gusts.
Re-enrollment for Next Year
Almost 90% of our students have re-enrolled for next year. Two of our grade levels are already full and two more have only one spot available. Thank you for trusting SHCS with your children.
Calendar for 2024 - 2025
Our school's leadership team met on Tuesday and voted to accept our calendar for next year.
Click here. There could be changes but we matched it with FMS and met the requirements of the diocese, so it should be good.
Night to Remember
Our
31st annual Night to Remember fundraising event is scheduled for
Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 6:00 PM at the Farmington Civic Center.
We would love for all of our families to attend.
Each SHCS family is responsible for selling one ticket, which was sent home on Wednesday. Families can purchase or sell a ticket for $200 that includes one raffle ticket for the grand prize of $10,000 and dinner for two, or sell a ticket for $100 that includes only the raffle ticket. One ticket sold per family is the minimum to meet the contract agreement that was signed at registration, but families can always sell more.
Will you please purchase or sell your ticket and turn in the money by Friday, April 5, 2024?
On April 6, 2024 we will begin selling tickets to the public and at masses. Because we really want our families to attend this amazing event, families have the opportunity to purchase a dinner ticket, including the raffle ticket, first.

Art Walk
Mrs Isbell has a beautiful wall hanging made by our students in Pre-school, Pre-K, 1st grade, and 2nd grade that will be hanging in Artifacts for the Art Walk on Friday, April 5. It is so wonderful to have our students’ talents displayed and our school represented in this community event. The Art Walk begins at 5 PM on Friday, April 5.
ARK Testing
Our school will participate in ARK testing during the week of April 8 through 12. ARK stands for Assessment of Religious Knowledge and keeps track of our religious knowledge and growth. Students will test during their computer time with Mrs. Schwenk.
Altar Server Training
All those who will make their First Holy Communion and Confirmation on April 27 and any other young people who wish to train as servers 3rd Grade and above should come to the training on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 9 and 10, in the Church at 4 p.m. each day. Those training to be altar servers need to be there each afternoon for about one hour. A parent should accompany their child or children to let us know what Mass or Masses they wish to serve.
Walk and Roll on Wednesday, April 17
On Wednesday, April 17 we will have an opportunity for students to ride their bikes, ride a scooter, roller skate (anything that rolls), or walk to school. Parents will park in the Family Center parking lot, then walk, or ride with their students down and back up Allen Avenue. Then, parents will have breakfast with their student in the gym (Pastries with Parents,) stay for morning prayer and a student concert under the direction of Ms Gapinski.
Works of Mercy Spring Project
Our second big project for our Works of Mercy Family Club the weekend of April 20 and 21. We have settled on two projects: complete the greenhouse and begin to install a sprinkler system for landscaping. Mr. Nick Whirry will be the project manager for completing the greenhouse. Dr. Grandjean, our STEM Coordinator, is organizing the landscaping project. She has worked with Javelin Construction to get a plan and the materials, and they are even supplying one of their workers to supervise the installation. Father Tim is paying for all of the materials; we just need parents with shovels to complete this project! As we get closer, we will have more details.
Mrs. Carla has it set up in Gradelink so you can let us know you will attend. We will serve hot dogs for lunch. Our Works of Mercy Family Club is one of the ways our students, staff, and parents have an opportunity to participate in service projects. If you still need service hours, this is a great way to get several.
Saints Bingo
Mrs. S will be organizing Saints Bingo during the week of April 22 to 26.

We will have several SHCS students making their First Communion and Confirmation this year. Confirmation and First Communion practice is at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, April 24 in the church, and Confirmation/First Communion are at the 4:30 PM Mass on Saturday, April 27. Our SHCS choir will be performing at this Mass.

Field Day
Field Day is Thursday, May 9. FMS will be here grilling hamburgers for lunch.
Picnic Friday
