Dear Parents,
May has already started out busy! We celebrated birthdays, went to confession, and sent home progress reports. On Friday every student placed a red rose in a vase on the altar and the 8th graders crowned Mary. After mass we had six 8th graders from the SHCS Class of 2020, who are graduating from high school this year with the Class of 2024, walk the halls to celebrate their upcoming graduation. Our students were so excited to see them in their cap and gown. After that, for School Lunch Hero Day, our entire school stood outside on Allen Street, many students with signs, to thank Mrs. Becky and Mr. Chris for bringing us lunch every day. Our students did a wonderful job of making both of them feel appreciated, and I think we even saw a few tears on Mrs. Becky's face. At lunch we recognized our very own School Lunch Hero, Mrs. Rita, for making sure that every student in our school has a full tummy every day; she even had her own superhero cape. Our students learn many things here at SHCS, and one of them is gratitude, which is our virtue this month. Parents, thank you for sending your wonderful children to our school.
Our school's
31st annual Night to Remember
was Saturday night, and it is a night I will remember always. Thank you to every single person who made the night possible. We had a committee that worked tirelessly to plan this beautiful event. We had corporate table sponsors and other donors who covered most of the night's expenses. We also had many people and businesses that donated items for our silent auction. Some of the most popular silent auction items were the ones made by our students and teachers. We even had student-made artwork that was auctioned for almost two thousand dollars! Mrs. Carla will be working hard to get final numbers for us, but I am certain this was a very successful fundraiser. But, more importantly, we had over 320 people in the civic center who truly love our school. What a joy it was to see so many parents, families, friends, community members, staff, and teachers all come together to show how important our little school is. I could feel God's presence in the room and left the event tired, but so extremely grateful to get to be a part of what Sacred Heart Catholic School is, what it does to enrich the lives of everyone associated with our school, and how everything our school does supports our Catholic teachings. Thank you to each of you.
This week is
Teacher Appreciation Week. Food and flowers are my love languages, so our entire staff can expect lots of food and a flower or two. We would love to have you join us for morning prayer so you can spend some time with our wonderful teachers and staff.
On Thursday, May 9 we have
Field Day! Coach Katie has our schedule and the plan for stations ready. FMS is bringing sack lunches with turkey sandwiches instead of hot lunch. Students can eat the sack lunch or bring their lunch from home.
On Friday, May 10 we are battling Pinon Hills Academy for to see which school can have the higher dollar amount of sales at
Chick-fil-A. There will be a SHCS box in their dining room, and anyone who eats there between the hours of 10:30 AM and 10:00 PM can put their receipt in the box to help us earn points. Cookies earn double points!
If your student would like Chick-fil-A on Friday, please remember to send $5.00. Students can also bring their lunch from home. Just remember, we will not have hot lunch from FMS on Friday, May 10.
Our teachers and staff will also have a Chick-fil-A lunch and get to eat as a group, thanks to several parents who volunteered to watch classes.
We will celebrate
summer birthdays for the months of June and July on Wednesday, May 15.
We will have our
last lunch with guests on Thursday, May 16, hosted by Preschool, PreK, and Kindergarten. The theme is "Swimming into Summer" so I bet you will see lots of fish! Please bring your lunch and eat with your student as we celebrate the end of this wonderful school year.
8th grade graduation is Friday, May 17, followed by the blessing of our front rose garden, and a lunch reception for all middle school in the Family Center.
Our
last day of school is Thursday, May 23. We will go to Mass and students will be dismissed at 9:30 AM.
Only three weeks to go! I hope you have a great week.
❤️, Kelly
