Dear Parents,
This week didn't seem to be as busy as many of the weeks here at SHCS, but it was a special one! We had at least twelve of our students confirmed and receive their first Holy Communion yesterday in a beautiful Mass with Father Tim and Bishop Wall. Congratulations!
On Wednesday, we got to celebrate Mrs. Carla Day at morning prayer to thank her for all she does for our school. Mrs. Carla truly loves our school, and it shows in how hard she works every single day.
We are also getting to a lot of "lasts" with our 8th graders. They had their last pizza sale on Monday; they participated in their last Saints Bingo all week and won on Friday; they will have their last confession while attending SHCS on Thursday, and they will have their last Crowning of Mary this Friday. Next week will be their last Teacher Appreciation Week and Field Day. The list continues right up to 8th grade graduation at Mass on Friday, May 17. Their class might be small, but these three wonderful students have made a difference at our school. I'm sure you've seen our beautiful rose garden at the front of the school by the office doors; the 8th graders raised the money to buy all of the roses! We will dedicate our rose garden after the graduation Mass on Friday, May 17.
We also have two other rose gardens at our school. The Groves family donated and planted the roses by the lower doors, and Tina Trujillo donated the roses for Mrs. Lange's flower bed by her classroom at the back of our school. We have five more rose gardens planned. If you would like to adopt a flower bed, here are what is available and the donation amount needed:
All rose donors will be recognized with a plaque placed in the flower bed in thanks for the generous donation. The roses can be in memory of someone or in honor of someone. The donation amount covers the cost of the roses, soil, and mulch. Let me know if you are interested!
Thank you for your continued support of our school.
Saints Bingo
was fun! The winners are:
Monday - 4th grade
Tuesday - 6th and 7th grades
Wednesday - 1st grade
Thursday - Miss Chavez's Kindergarten
Friday - 1st grade and 8th grade
Night to Remember
Our school's 31st annual Night to Remember is this coming Saturday night at the Farmington Civic Center. Many people have worked hard to plan this exciting event. The night should be fun with great food, dancing, live painting, a silent auction, and a live auction of the painting and "boards." There are many wonderful items you can bid on in the silent auction, including some beautiful items that our students made with their teacher. Thank you to everyone who has generously donated their time and valuable resources to make this fundraiser possible. I hope to see you Saturday night!
May Birthdays
May birthdays will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 1.
Progress Reports
Progress Reports will be sent home on Wednesday, May 1.

Our last confession for the year will be Thursday, May 2.
Friday, May 3 - May Crowning, Graduating High School Seniors, School Lunch Hero Day
Battle of the Schools - Pinon Hills Academy vs. SHCS at Chick-Fil-A
On
Friday, May 10 we are battling Pinon Hills Academy to see which school can have more sales at Chick-Fil-A. We have a very generous donor who has made it possible for all students to get a Chick-fil-A meal for $5.00. If you would like to purchase a Chick-fil-A meal for your student, will you please send $5.00 to your child's teacher by Monday, May 6?
Students can still bring a cold lunch, but we will not have lunch from FMS that day.
Students in first lunch (Preschool through 1st grade) will get a kids meal with chicken nuggets and an apple juice. Students in grades 2 through 8 will get a Chick-fil-A sandwich meal and a lemonade. All meals are $5.00.
Taylor Whirry is creating our box that will be displayed at the restaurant beginning May 4. If you have some time on Friday, May 10 between the hours of 10:30 AM and 10:00 PM, we can have representatives of our school in the lobby and drive-through, encouraging people to put their receipts in our box. This is a great way to showcase our wonderful school to the community, and we get a food credit at Chick-fil-A just for playing!
