Semester 2, Week 16
Dear Parents,
What a busy few days we have had! Our Walk and Roll on Wednesday was a huge success and is definitely on our calendar as an annual event. On Friday night, our first Poetry Jam was a huge success as well. We had students conquer their stage fright so they could perform in front of their peers and SHCS families. Then yesterday we completed many of our projects on our Works of Mercy Family Club service day. Our storage shed is now Coach Katie's dedicated PE storage, and our CONEX is clean and organized so that our outdoor equipment can be stored properly. All of the leaves and trash around the fence are gone, and we have a new walkway for safely getting trash to the dumpster. The irrigation pipes have been installed underground to the raised garden beds, upstairs flower beds, and flower beds by the lower classrooms; the water will be turned on this week. We have a beautiful rose garden by the lower doors and roses ready to be planted by the upper front doors. You must stop by and see the girls restroom with the motivational sayings and beautiful hand painted flowers. The boys restroom is next and it will great, too!
There is no way to thank everyone by name who has made all of these projects possible; I know I will miss someone. My heart is so full of thanks to every parent, student, teacher, and staff who has worked so hard and given so generously, not just this weekend but always, to make our school beautiful in every possible way. Your dedication to and love of our school are noticed and appreciated. Thank you for every single thing that each one of you does.
Last 8th Grade Pizza Sale
Our 8th graders will be selling pizza one more time at lunch tomorrow, Monday, April 22. Since we have used all of the free Little Caesar's pizza cards that were donated to the school, we will have to pay for the pizza this time. Kylie Bailey was able to get us a good deal at Pizza Hut, but we are going to have to charge $4.00 for the first slice of pizza, with a drink and dessert. Each additional piece will be $3.00.
8th Grade Legacy Project
The 8th graders have been selling pizza all year to fund their Legacy Project. We were able to purchase the rose bushes for the upper rose gardens with the money they raised. They will also plant a tree and other flowers that are special to them. Our rose gardens will have a plaque recognizing their generosity and thanking them for making it possible to have landscaping at the front of our school.
Battle of the Schools - Pinon Hills Academy vs. SHCS at Chick-Fil-A
On Friday, May 10 we are battling Pinon Hills Academy in a Battle of the Schools at Chick-fil-A. The school that has receipts in their box with the higher total amount of sales will win free food for their school. This is a great way to bring attention to our wonderful school.
Saints Bingo
Mrs. S has Saints Bingo ready for this week. I had so many requests from the students for Saints Bingo. I can't wait to see it in action.
Confirmation and First Communion
We will have several SHCS students making their First Communion and Confirmation this year. Confirmation and First Communion practice is at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, April 24 in the church, and Confirmation/First Communion are at the 4:30 PM Mass on Saturday, April 27. Picnic Friday
We have a few parents who have volunteered to take our students to lunch and recess so that teachers and staff can have lunch together on Friday, May 10. If you are interested in doing this, will you please call the office and tell Mrs. Carla? We need you from 10:55 AM to 12:10 PM.
No After-School Care on Friday, May 10
Mrs. Rita will not be at school on the afternoon of Friday, May 10, so we will not have after-school care. She will be here in the morning for before-school care.
Summer Birthdays
We will celebrate summer birthdays at morning prayer on Wednesday, May 15.
Family Lunch
Families are invited to have lunch with us on Wednesday, May 16, which will be hosted by Preschool, PreK, and Kindergarten. We do not know what is on the menu yet.
8th Grade Graduation
8th grade graduation is Friday, May 17, followed by a lunch reception for all of middle school in the Family Center.
Last Day of School
Our last day of school is Thursday, May 23. We will go to Mass and students will be dismissed at 9:30 AM. We will have lunch at 11:00 AM for teachers and staff, then summer break will start.
Parents, thank you for trusting SHCS with your children. Remember, you are always welcome to join us for morning prayer, lunch, and Mass on Friday. I hope you have a wonderful week.
❤️, Kelly
