Dear Parents,
Welcome to week 4 of semester 2. January is quickly coming to an end; Lent will be here before we know it!
We have had quite a few students out sick recently. Please don't hesitate to keep your kiddo home if he or she does not feel well. Your student's teacher will catch them up when your student feels better and returns to school. We want everyone healthy for all the fun activities planned for Catholic Schools Week.
Immunization Records
We will be checking immunization records again to make sure all our students are up to date on their immunizations. Will you please make sure we have your student's current immunization record? If you are not sure, you can check with Mrs. Carla or just send us one from your student's doctor. Thank you so much for helping us be able to fulfil this task required of all schools.
SHCS Mission Statement
Our mission is to love and serve God and our neighbors; to learn to the best of our abilities; to use these skills to be faithful and responsible Catholic Christians; and to shine forth our faith through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Everything we do at SHCS is guided by our Mission Statement. It is posted in all our classrooms and on our website. We are committed to the Catholic Identity and have a rigorous Catholic religion program taught by qualified teachers. Our teachers use the Gospel values and Catholic doctrine and beliefs to help our students learn to think critically and ethically. Our school provides opportunities to support students in their faith formation by providing daily prayer, weekly mass, monthly confessions, and support in preparing for sacraments. Through our Works of Mercy Club and teacher-initiated projects, students, parents, and staff have opportunities to participate in service activities for social justice. Adults in our school support the faith life of our school community and helps parents support the faith life of their child. We are so proud of our school. Thank you for trusting SHCS with your children.
8th Grade Pizza Sale
The 8th graders will sell pizza tomorrow, Monday, January 22. Pizza is $2 per slice, and each student who purchases pizza will also receive a drink and cookie.
Progress Reports
The first three weeks of the Quarter 3 grading period ended Friday. Mrs. Carla will print progress report this Wednesday for the teachers to send home. Remember to check Gradelink for specific assignment grades and be sure to contact your student's teacher if you have any concerns at all.
Catholic Schools Week
Catholic Schools Weeks starts next weekend with our students attending mass wearing their school mass uniform. We will also open up the school after all Sacred Heart masses and invite everyone from church to come see our beautiful school. If your student was not able to turn in his or her family poster, the taco, and the Valentine's heart, they can still be turned in this week, hopefully by Tuesday so we can get everything sorted and ready for the next week. We have had one more activity planned for CSW. On Wednesday, January 31, our choir will be singing at St. Michael's Namaste House (assisted living), 800 W. 30th St. in Farmington.
Dream Vacation Raffle
We will start our third fundraising activity for the year on Tuesday, January 30. The grand prize is a Caribbean cruise. There are also three other mini vacations for 2nd through 4th place. Tickets are $25.00 and we are asking each family to sell 12 tickets. Money is due to Mrs. Carla by Friday, March 1, and the drawing will be held on Friday, March 8. There is no school that day so we will have the drawing live on Facebook. Mrs. Carla will be setting up volunteer opportunities to sell tickets at all masses at Sacred Heart. If you would like to sell tickets at another parish, please let Mrs. Carla know.
New STEM Representative
Dr. Danielle Grandjean has offered to help with our STEM program. Dr. Grandjean is Julia's and Daniel's mom. She has a PhD in Clinical Transitional Science and is the Senior Research Coordinator for the Mayo Clinic. She has been given the title of SHCS STEM Representative so that she can help us secure grants and other materials for our STEM room and STEM program. She will be paid with our most sincere thanks. Welcome, Dr. Grandjean!
Works of Mercy Spring Semester Project
Our second big project for our Works of Mercy Family Club is to complete small projects around our school on the weekend of April 20 and 21. Some of the projects already requested are to fix the blinds in some of our classrooms, complete the greenhouse, install a sprinkler system for landscaping, add landscaping, clean out our storage buildings, and clean our playground equipment. Everyone is welcome. We will serve hot dogs for lunch. If you are interested in leading any of these projects, or if you know of any other projects that could benefit our school, please let me know. Our Works of Mercy Family Club is one of the ways our students, staff, and parents have opportunity to participate in service projects.
Registration Fee and Tuition Rates for 2024 - 2025
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our meeting last Wednesday night to talk about money...yuck. I appreciate your kindness and support. We raised the Registration fee from $260 to $300 per year, but we will offset that increase by providing some of the school supplies previously purchased by parents. Tuition was raised $386 a year for students in Preschool and PreK, from $5114 to $5500. Tuition was raised $725 a year for students in kindergarten through 8th grade, from $3775 to $4500. To help with the increase in tuition, we will now allow parents to pay their tuition in twelve monthly installments, instead of in ten monthly payments. We will also extend the day fifteen minutes. Our new bell schedule will be from 8:00 AM to 3:15 PM. The doors will still open at 7:45 AM, and the tardy bell will still ring at 7:55 AM. Since parents will be paying more in tuition, we will keep your students more minutes each day. Please do not hesitate to come talk to me if you have any concerns or questions.
Registration for 2024 - 2025
Mrs. Carla will be opening up registration for the 2024 - 2025 school year on February 1. Look for an email from her with all the information you need regarding registration and scholarships.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher conferences will be the first week of March. Teachers will work with you to set up a conference time for your student.
I hope you have a wonderful week.
