Dear Parents,
As we head into this last week of February, can you believe we only have three months left of school? Some days it feels like school just started and now it's going to be over way too soon for me. I have enjoyed every minute I've gotten to be here, and I love our students so very much. Thank you for trusting Sacred Heart Catholic school with your children.
Child Safety - Protect Yourself Training for Students
Our school is required by the diocese to train every student in how to protect themselves in physical boundaries and safe touching. Training for the students will be this week.
Accreditation Survey
Thank you to the
49 staff parents who have completed the survey that begins our accreditation process. We have 81 families, so we are halfway to our goal. If you have not had a chance to complete the survey yet, will you, please?
Mission with Ryan Tremblay
Sacred Heart Parish is hosting a mission with Ryan Tremblay, a touring international Christian recording artist tonight at 7:00 PM, and also on Monday and Tuesday evenings. On Tuesday, February 27, Ryan will work with our students in grades 3 through 8 who would like to sing with him, beginning at 8:15 AM for instruction, then a performance at 10:00 AM for the entire school in the church. Families are most welcome at this concert. At his 7:00 PM performance on Tuesday, our students who sang with him that morning are invited to perform with him that evening. Father Tim met Ryan in August while on his trip to Portugal. You can learn more about Ryan on his website at
ryantremblaymusic.com.
STAR Testing for 3rd Quarter
Students will be taking the STAR test in the computer lab with Mrs. Schwenk this week.
Finding Nemo, Jr
On Friday, March 1, 2024, students in grades 1
through 5 will be going to Piedra Vista High School to see their theater department’s children’s play Finding Nemo Jr. These classes will go to mass on Wednesday. Everyone else will follow their regular schedule for Wednesday and Friday. Students attending mass on Wednesday and the play on Friday can wear their regular uniform on Wednesday, and spirit wear on Friday.
Teachers of students in grades 1 through 5 will be sending home a permission form ASAP, if they have not already done so. The teachers will also be arranging for drivers. Will you please return your student's signed permission form and $3.00 for the cost of the play? The cost is also $3.00 for parents who drive students to the play.
From Mr. Trujillo, PV Administrator, "At that time, there will be no parking spaces in the theatre area/staff parking or front parking lot. They will need to park in the soccer field parking and then walk to the theater."
Night to Remember Committee Meeting
Our next NTR meeting will be at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, February 28 in the workroom. Everyone is welcome. If you were not able to attend the first meeting but are interested in helping with NTR, please attend this meeting. We need all the help we can get! If you have a student making his or her first Communion/Confirmation in April and will attend the parent meeting at 5:30 in the church, please join us after that meeting; I promise we will still be planning.
First Communion/Confirmation
There is a parent meeting for students making their first Communion/Confirmation this year at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, February 28 in the church. Banners will be distributed at this meeting. First Communion/Confirmation is Saturday, April 28 at the 4:30 PM mass.
Raffle Tickets
Thank you for continuing to sell raffle tickets for our Dream Vacation Raffle. The proceeds of this raffle will help to meet the financial demands of our school. All of the prizes have been generously donated so there is minimal expense, making this a very profitable fundraiser. If you have already sold the 12 tickets your family is responsible for selling, we have more! Just ask Mrs. Carla. Remember, if you know of someone purchasing tickets online on behalf of your family, please do NOT fill out the paper raffle ticket for them. We will fill out tickets for all of the online sales before the drawing. For the actual drawing, there will be the exact same ticket stub for online sales as we have for paper ticket sales, so the odds of winning are the same no matter how the ticket is purchased.
Remember, all raffle ticket stubs and money are due this Friday, March 1.
Lunches with Guests
To celebrate Leap Year, 2nd grade will host lunch this Thursday, February 29 with families. Hot lunch that day is a yummy baked chicken drumstick, green beans, roll, and fruit. The cost is $5.00 for guests and that includes a drink.
Please reserve your lunch by 3:30 PM on Monday, February 26.
Expect to see lots of frogs!
Wednesday, March 27
To celebrate Easter and the end of Lent, we will attend mass on Wednesday, March 27. We are still working on the schedule, but it will be very altered.
We will have lunch with guests hosted by 1st grade. Farmington Schools changed our menu so that we can have a nice Easter meal that day. We will have baked ham, macaroni and cheese, garden salad, a dinner roll, and fruit. The cost is $5.00 and that includes a drink.
Please reserve your meal by 3:30 PM on Monday, March 25.
We will also have the egg drop like we had last year. More information to follow. Parents are most welcome to attend this exciting event after lunch.
As always, please join us for morning prayer Monday through Thursday, and mass on Fridays. I hope you have a wonderful week.
❤️, Kelly
